So I was just wondering, have any of your buns bonded specifically with you?
I'm curious because it seems Kahlua is really bonded with me.
Tonight my fiance sent me an IM at almost 12am, saying that Kahlua hadn't done much today and was sort of lethargic, he didn't even scramble to get his food like usual. So I immediately told him to come and pick me up (my car isn't working all that well right now) and take me to see him. Mind you Josh said he hasn't really done anything all day, just kind of layed there. Well he finally arrived at my house and took me to his (not more then a 5 minute drive). When I got there I ran up stairs just to check on him. And he saw me perked up and just kept looking at me. Josh picked him up and put Kahlua in his lap, when he went to give Kahlua to me, Kahlua literally LUNGED into my arms and sat all content. When he got down on the bed I layed down like I usually do with him, and he just seemed like normal. He started binkying and jumped on my chest and snuggled with me. Right now he's running all around me occationely looking over my shoulder at what I'm doing and nudging me wanting my attention.
So i was just wondering if it's possible that Kahlua can have a sort of separation anxiety from me. Because he's perfectly find right now, he took food from me in his normal manor, binkyed all around, and is now flopped next to me as I type this. Josh is now sitting in a chair starring at me in disbelief that a rabbit could be so spoiled and bonded with me.
Oh and for any other things that have to do with not eating, I checked a bunch of websites that suggest different problems and when i got here I gave him a pretty good looking over, and he looks fine. The symptoms of gas aren't present so I'm not really all that worried. Oh jeez, and now he's back on the "MOMMA!! I WANNA HUMP YOU!" =/

Mickey's getting neutered on Friday! I'm a little bit nervous for him... What should I be expecting? I live in a pretty tiny town and I was just glad to find someone who's done it before!
Mickey and Rosie have been getting along really well :) I've been letting them out together every once in a while, but I keep a very close eye on them and hover over Mickey for when he pounces. If I let them out one at a time they spend all of their "free time" scent marking each others cage.
Whenever I let Rosie run free, I also find this:

It seems like Rosie is almost trying to show him that that's still her room? I don't know? Is this normal? Hmmm...

In 4 days, we will have had Luna for 2 years and I have got to share this little piece of joy with all of you who will understand.
Luna used to be very aloof and pretty much Hated us humans. The capitalization was not an error. Such indignities like trimming her nails made it so that she didn't want to be near any of us. We got thumped, nipped, growled at -- even months after her spay. I know it's not unusual; I've read about many buns like this. Just like some cats will forever hide under their owner's beds for 95% of their day, we had one of those bunnies that barely tolerated us because we fed her.
That was okay. We have a cuddlebun in Freddie, and we were just happy to have gotten her away from her sick cage-mates.
I'm happy to say that I can now call her name and she does binkies. And she looks around anxiously for us when we aren't in the room. And she can't stand to be away from me if she's scared. It makes me feel like a success as a bunny owner...and like a million bucks. XD

Okay, I know I already posted a bun pic today, but this one is too adorable to pass up.
Long story short, Dmitri was tranced in the most adorable position with my boyfriend and I snapped a pic before he decided to snap out of it. ;) Feel free to make this a 'significant-other chilling with buns' pic thread if you like. I love seeing guys cuddling bunnies, hehe.

My poor Dimka, such a teeny-tiny little weiner of a bun. :P

(Aside from me quicking him last night- SCARRED FOR LIFE OH GOD SO MUCH BLOOD -me and Jackie are GREAT friends now. :D)
I rebuilt the buns cages yet again so they're now on some carpet mats and let me tell you, it's WAY superior to the foam jigsaws I had before. Easily sweep-offable, my guys are litter trained to pee in their boxes, so I just sweep up poops and good to go. :)

so pierre is obsessed with this futon in my living room. if you'd ask him he'd say OH YEAH DATS MY COWCH ITS GRATE. he runs under it, jumps on it, sleeps on it, bothers whoever sits on it.
he also sheds like crazy on it. my roomie refuses to sit on it because its so full of hair. after going through several lint brushes, i need some advice. does anyone have tricks for keeping a futon clean of bunneh fur? i was thinking of gettng a cover, but afraid it'd be a waste of money because he'd just shed all over that. maybe a certain type of cover less prone to being a fur magnet?
does anyone have ideas?

Soooo, here's the problem (not so much a problem but we'll call it that for now). My mom and I found a rabbit we think is absolutely adorable and funny. I want to get it but my mom has doubts because of our current bunny. My bunny right now is my first and she is spoiled rotten. My mom is afraid that she won't take having a new bunny around and she also thinks that the age difference is a problem (few month old to my 2 year old). Basically, she feels that our bunneh now will be jealous and hate the new bunny. I guess my question is does she have a point? Is this a bad idea for my current baby?

How to choose a rabbit?
Dec. 12th, 2009 | 01:43 pm
posted by: chibi_red_stars in bunnyowners
I was just wondering how everyone decided on the rabbit/s that they owned. I have 2 and was thinking on getting another one but I really started putting thought into "how" to choose another rabbit. With my first rabbit, he sort of chose me. I put my hand near all the bunnies and he just bounded over to my hand. So in my opinion there was no other choice. He chose me. And it was perfect. He's the best rabbit I could have gotten. He's honestly like my little shadow.
With my second rabbit, I tried that method and no rabbits came running over to me. So I just went with a gut feeling. But it seems like this time a gut feeling just wouldn't cut it. I'm not sure why.
But I have been (for a while) giving serious thought to getting a third. And I know what I'm getting myself into first and foremost. =) And I also have given careful consideration to how my other 2 babies would take it. And I've thought about if there's any hostility and has their ever been, and etc. I also know how much expense it would/could be. One of my babies has tooth problems so his vet bill is very high. So I'm 100% good on thinking it through.
The thing is though, I've decided I need to figure out the right way to go about choosing a third. So how did you all pick your rabbits? Any advice on picking another? Both of mine are lops, should I go for another lop...a different breed...does it matter? Do some breeds not get along as well with others? (I was sort of wanting a Nethie but unsure if some breeds get along better with other breeds and things like that)
Thank you all in advance for your help and comments!

I've only had Ciambella for a week but shes warming up to me now as opposed to before. She has the run of the room (god bunny proofing is a pain in the ass). I thought I would show her off here :) She's a 2X lionhead. So fluffy! :D
She's not all that thrilled about hay, and any 'old' hay she ignores...and ignores her hay rack and will only eat hay if its on the ground away from the rack but w/e. Anyway she's really sweet, and a little dirty in the photo lol. I didnt notice until after I took it :p And you can never see her tail cos of all the fur but....I got it!

He's still thin, not eating much. He is still struggling to use his litter tray properly and his bottom is covered in pee and mushy poop.
The xrays and teeth inspection showed nothing.
I had to chase the blood test results, unfortunately I had to make a fuss when they weren't available for the second day running. The only reults we now have are a long string of numbers - the path lab didn't bother to give any comments or interpretation.
The numbers suggest Arthur is using his muscle and fat reserves for fuel. They also say he has a low white blood cell count and a possible issue with his liver.
We have some more Critical Care to give him, some more antibiotics and he had a B12 injection.
My rabbit is wasting away in front of me, we've run up £300 in bills so far and still don't have an answer.

Beth, my other bunny who lives separately (bonding failed), is on all the same food and stuff and is not sick.

So bonding with the little bunny friends went without a hitch! Rosie jumped on top of him for about 3 seconds and that was that! They are both currently sleeping happily in the same room and Rosie even let Mickey (yes, the name changes just as often as the sex does apparently!) flop over in her cage! Hopefully this keeps up :)

Thank you to those who commented on my last post about my bunny, Ash, who had GI stasis. I finally brought her home today, but her prognosis is not good. She had x-rays done which revealed she has overgrown molar roots which have grown down into her lower jaw causing her pain and the obvious cause of her lack of appetite.
The vet wasn't very optimistic considering she is only 10 months and is unsure if she will be able to eat on her own, so far since getting her home she has hardly eaten a thing and I have had to syringe feed her some of the supreme recovery sachet that I was given.
Does anyone have any advice? Should I mix some pellets with water and try that too? I don't know what to do, I am devastated and want to take her back to the vets but there is nothing more they can do for her.

We took little rabbit to the vet and was informed, once again, that he is a she is a he! So.... for all you Meerkat Manor addicts out there....
His name is Tosca! :) and he's a healthy lionhead minirex mix! As far as age goes, all we know is he's old enough to breed.
My question... I've read that you should start slow when bonding rabbits (ie putting their cages together). Rosie's cage, however, is pretty immobile at the moment. Would it be ok to place Tosca's cage in "Rosie's room" or would that bring about territory issues?
EDIT: The woman who sold it to us originally said it was a girl , then double checked and said it was a boy.... then we went to the vet who told us it was a girl.... i told the seller and she came over and lo' and behold there was a weiner! Silly vet...

Hey everyone! I'm Kate, I've been a lifelong rabbit owner, and I'm pretty sure I'm obsessive about them! I currently have one rabbit, I adopted him last April from a humane society here in Minnesota. His name is Alucard, he is 3 years old!
